Paloma Hinojosa

Paloma Hinojosa

Paloma Hinojosa was born in Madrid, Spain in 1947. Although painting has always been a very important part of her life, she received a formal education in business and attended the Escuela de Artes y Oficios (School of Art and Trade). After finishing her studies, she went to work for IBM but shortly after followed her passion and became a full time career painter. Since 1971, Hinojosa has participated in numerous individual and group shows throughout Spain, France and the United States. Like many other New Fauves, Hinojosa uses color to express her thoughts and emotions. She defines her work as spontaneous and strongly influenced by music. The atmosphere that she creates on canvas is romantic, lyrical, mystical and beautiful.

Paloma  was one of the recipients of the prestigious 2023 Mayte Spínola Gold Medals for her contributions to painting awarded by the jury for the Pro Arte y Cultura group at the Spanish Theater of Marmolejo, Spain.  In attendance was the major of Marmolejo, Manuel Lozano, Director of the Women’s Institute of Junta de Andalucia, Rosario Alarcón, councilors of the municipality, and member of the jury for Pro Arte y Cultura as well as numerous guests from Spain, Austria, and Italy.

“Since its inception in 1990, the Pro Arte y Cultura Group, founded by Mayte Spínola, has been instrumental in organizing exhibitions and advocating for the arts across various European cities. Spínola’s dedication has significantly contributed to the flourishing of cultural expression, earning her a prestigious spot in the Forbes Art list, alongside other luminaries such as Alicia Koplowitz and Baroness Thyssen.”  The Pro Arte y Cultura group aims to enrich the community and provide opportunities within the arts including those working in literature, music, painting, film, photography, education, architecture, and fashion among others.

In 2015, Paloma was honored with an amazing exhibition of her works, “Celebrar la Vida,” at the Centro Cultural de Vacas in Madrid, Spain.  She is now working on another retrospective exhibition that will be hosted in Madrid in 2025.
