Born in Costa Rica in 1971, Vangeles is a self taught artist.  He began his journey as a fine furniture carpenter, a tradition passed down through generations. Living in the lush tropics of Arenal, he developed a love of bird watching.  He began making bird carvings in his spare time and eventually began painting them.  While birdwatching he developed and affinity to butterflies.  Fascinated by their short lifecycle, he started recreating butterflies with bird feathers and hand painting each one.  He curates these creations to make beautiful wall sculptures.  

He currently divides his working hours between his three loves.  The rest of his time is devoted to his family.
