About the Artist
Artist Steve Reinhart is a third generation artist originally from San Jose, California. After a successful 26 year career working as an illustrator draftsman and painting semi-professionally, Steve moved to New York and began painting professionally fulltime.
Steve's art is original in everyway. Part realism and part abstract expressionism with a hint of impressionism, Steve's paintings capture the fine line that exists between abstraction and realism. Many renowned abstract artists have said reality and abstraction are one in the same - it just depends on how you look at it.
At the young age of 38, Steve was diagnosed with the rare Muscular Dystrophy disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (a neurological disorder that causes damage to the peripheral nerves, which carry signals from the brain and spinal cord to muscles, and relay sensations, such as pain and touch, to the brain and spinal cord from the rest of the body.) This disease has forced Steve to completely abandon all of the traditional forms of painting (the use of brushes and an easel) and left him with only one alternative - dripping the paint directly from a can.
"My art creates its own environment for the viewer to experience, if not, to co-exist. Large canvases and the marriage of adjoining colors help me to achieve a mirage of imagery and a feeling of place."
